Dobri Dobrev


Dobri Dobrev was born on December 21, 1898 in Sliven. He graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 1925 and was a member of the "Native Art" society. Between 1929 and 1936 he lived and worked in the Czech Republic, traveled to many European cities and participated in the International Biennale in Venice in 1942. After his final return to Bulgaria in 1937, he worked in Sliven, and from 1954 to 1965 he taught at the Art High School in Sofia. He created over 50 solo exhibitions, worked in the genres of portrait, landscape and everyday composition, with markets and his native Sliven as his favorite themes. He was awarded the Order of Cyril and Methodius, 1st degree in 1968. He died on March 1, 1973 in Sofia.
