Dora Kancheva

Dora Kancheva is a Bulgarian artist, painter.

Dora Kancheva is an author from the generation of Lika Yanko and, like her, had difficult periods during the years of socialism. She paints in the spirit of expressionism. Enormous inner strength and presence are characteristic of her canvases.

Dora Ganeva Kancheva was born in Kazanlak. She is the daughter of the artist Ganyo Ivanov, a student of Mrkvichka.

In the 1970s, she was declared a formalist and rejected by art salons in our country. She was forced to draw children's newspapers, color eggs, and engage in other applied activities to survive.

In 2009, the Union of Artists apologized to Dora Kancheva and awarded the first prize in the name of Lika Yanko. They organized a large exhibition at the Rayko Alexiev Gallery.
