Lalyu Minkov
Lalyu Minkov was born in Sevlievo on August 31, 1911. At the age of 12, he went to Sofia, where he drew knowledge and inspiration from the greatest artists of that time. During a creative tour of the country, the artist fell in love with Veliko Tarnovo and settled there in 1939. His works can be seen in a number of art galleries, private collections and public buildings throughout the country, as well as abroad. He dedicated most of his paintings to landscapes from his beloved city of Veliko Tarnovo, and there are also many impressive still lifes.
He is called the "Singer of Tarnovo". His name ranks alongside those of Boris Denev, Stoyan Vassilev, Ivan Hristov, Denyu Chokanov, Asen Momchev - artists who drew inspiration from the beautiful views of the old capital city.
Laliu Minkov died on July 31, 1985 in Veliko Tarnovo.
