Vasil Stoev
Vasil Stoev was born on August 7, 1950 in the town of Parvomay. He graduated from the National Academy of Arts in 1979, studying with Prof. Alexander Poplilov. He is the author of over 80 solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions, which have been presented in prestigious Bulgarian and European galleries, museums and art exhibitions. Among his important participations are in the "Muse'е del'Athenee" in Geneva, Switzerland, "The Museum of Modern Art" in Papendrecht, the Netherlands, the "BernardFelli" Gallery and the "Celine" Gallery in Paris, France, the "Cornerstone Galleries" Gallery in California, USA, as well as galleries in Austria, Turkey, Malta, Italy, Belgium, Great Britain, Denmark and Japan.
Vasil Stoev is the winner of a number of prestigious awards, including the 1st Prize of the Union of Bulgarian Artists in the Poster category, the Participation Award and First Degree at the International Biennial of Arts in Malta, as well as the Plovdiv City Award for Painting. In 1989, he participated in an auction at "SOTHEBY'S" in London, where his works were sold.
Vasil Stoev's works can be found in museums and public collections, including the Mimara Museum in Zagreb, Croatia, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Sofia, the City Art Gallery in Sofia, Plovdiv and Burgas, the National Museum of Art in Valletta, Malta, as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Malta and other important collections in Belgium and Switzerland.
